Monarch Fire Protection units assisted in the team effort of the first half of the Daniel Boone Bridge demolition Thursday, February 18.  The second half is expected to occur Monday, February 29.  Five Monarch units were stationed at various checkpoints to provide standby emergency services as well as spectator control.  Several Chief Officers assisted with command and control of the event.  The Monarch Fire Prevention Bureau also monitored the handling and use of the explosives for the demolition.  The pictures were taken by Monarch Fire Inspector Zach Fuchs.  Other agencies involved were MoDOT, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Chesterfield Police, St. Charles County Police, Cottleville Fire Protection District, St. Charles County Ambulance District, Walsh/Alberici (general contractor) and Demtech (demolition contractor).  As you can see in the pictures, the bridge section dropped without a hitch and the job went safely and exactly as planned.
