The Monarch Fire Protection District is a participating entity with Missouri Task Force One, and currently has members deployed in support of Hurricane Laura.

Missouri Task Force 1 is one of 28 urban search and rescue teams in the United States. FEMA activated this unit Tuesday in anticipation of widespread flooding in the gulf areas of Texas and Louisiana.

MO-TF1 deployed a Type 4 Water Rescue Task Force. The team is made up of 25 personnel. 24 members are Swiftwater/Floodwater Rescue Specialists and Boat Operators.

The team, along with an enhanced package of water rescue equipment including six boats, has deployed and they are now in Newton County, TX (which borders Louisiana) and are currently performing search, reconnaissance, and damage assessment missions. Currently, MO-TF1 is assigned to the State of Texas as a search and rescue asset.
